In a resellers hosting account, do I need to create a separate package for each domain?

I currently have 7 domains in my Reseller hosting account. I think that I probably did not set up the initial “package” correctly because the Quota showing memory and bandwidth for each of my domains varies widely from 30,000 to 40 to “unlimited”. I want to insure that there is enough memory for all my present domains — and for all the ones I intend to build upon in the future. so, what size of package do you usually set up for each domain? How big of a quota should I allot? do I need to create only one package and have many domains in it? or do I need to create separate packages for each of my domains? thanks!

Chosen Answer:

It really depends on what scripts your website is built on, how man pictures your website has, how many visitors it gets, etc.

In order to get a feeling for this: Install your website, upload all pictures and then check out how much disk space you used. Then every few days check your bandwidth usage.

If it is your reseller account, it doesn’t really matter:

-Just give them a bit and when the websites need more, you can easily allocate more. (For example a fresh website will usually not need more than 500MB of disk space and say 10GB of bandwidth.)

-On the other hand if your reseller account allows you to oversell then simply allocate unlimited resources to every website and forget the quota. Then check the usage of you whole account from time to time in order to stay in the limits of your plan.by:on: 5th October 11

What is Shared Hosting – Exactly?

Shared hosting is the most basic form of Web hosting. Your website is put on a server that is inhabited by other digital neighbors. many Web hosts place hundreds of websites on the same server, and there are benefits and disadvantages to doing this. This article will give you detailed information about shared hosting so that you can make an informed decision about getting this type of hosting.

Sharing Neighbors

The main characteristic that separates shared hosting from any other type of hosting is that your website shares server space with many other websites. the worst part about this is that you don’t get as much bandwidth and memory for your website. most shared hosts say they offer unlimited bandwidth and memory, but it’s not really unlimited. It just means that they don’t specifically limit your website, but you can’t use too many resources. This means that shared hosting is only good for small websites. the host will commonly restrict the files that you can upload to your website. For example, most shared hosts do not allow you to upload games or videos because they need a lot of bandwidth.

If you have a small website, then shared hosting should be fine for your needs. the advantage of using shared hosting is that it is much cheaper. most shared hosts charge $10 or less a month. there is no reason to get a VPS or dedicated server if your website is starting out because they will cost a lot, and you won’t need the extra resources.

Sell Hosting Space

Shared hosting doesn’t offer you much server space, but you can typically share some space to offset costs. Shared hosting doesn’t cost that much, so any money you make will probably be profit if you let someone host on your account. It’s not that difficult to get a new domain on your account, and most hosts allow you to host multiple domains.

The hardest part about selling part of your shared hosting space is keeping people away from your FTP server. if they get into your FTP server, then they can remove or change your files. You can lock them into their own directory by opening the FTP server and entering this command line, “chroot_local_user=yes.”

Uses

Shared hosting is limited when compared to other hosting plans, but it still has many uses. You can host a new website that is just starting out, and you can easily run a blog on a shared host. You also don’t need any technical knowledge. It would help to know about CPanel, but most hosts give you tools so that you can upload files without needing to go through CPanel.

Conclusion

If you are looking for raw power, then a shared host will not provide it. This hosting is great for small websites, and you need very little technical knowledge to run your website. if you are just starting out online, then use shared hosting for your website.

RoseHosting.com Offers Custom VPS Service for Personal and Business Users

RoseHosting.com recently announced its newest Linux VPS offer ? custom VPS plans, or VPS hosting plans that customers can tailor fit to their individual applications and needs. This allows them to access and pay for the exact specifications that they need, and also allows them to create the perfect combinations that best match their requirements.

?Our custom VPS plans do not just allow customers to choose the individual specifications they require. Our new offer also allows them to lessen the specs that they don?t need and increase those that are more important to them, without having to pay for resources they don?t end up using.?

A spokesperson for RoseHosting.com shared a possible scenario that led them to create a customized VPS solution for their customers, ?For example, some of our customers find the 30GB disk space and 512MB burstable memory of our SilverVS plan inadequate for their needs, but the 500GB data transfer allocation is sufficient for them. In the past, their only option was to opt for the GoldVS, which comes with 40GB of disk space and 768MB of guaranteed memory. but this also meant they will have double the data transfer allocation, which they don?t get to maximize but still have to pay for.?

With the Custom VPS plan, customers are allowed to decide on how much RAM memory they need, with a minimum of 256MB and a maximum of 4096MB. For disk space, allocation begins at 20GB and maxes out at 300GB. Data transfer allocations begin at 250GB and go all the way to a whopping 3000GB. Customers can also choose to purchase a maximum of 3 IP addresses.

There are free options as well, such as the option to select between Webmin and DirectAdmin control panels, and the option to use RoseHosting?s DNS servers if the customers don?t have their own.

Additionally, all customers of the custom VPS plan will enjoy 24×7 online customer support from RoseHosting.com, a 30-day money-back guarantee, a 100% uptime guarantee, free weekly backup, free server monitoring and full root access to their servers.

The custom VPS plan is the latest addition to RoseHosting?s VPS hosting packages, which were numbered at five different packages prior to the release of the custom plan. these earlier packages, which are named SilverVS, GoldVS, PlatinumVS, DiamondVS, and UltimateVS, are still available for those who prefer pre-configured hosting plans.
